In January We Celebrate New Beginnings

We Continue to Find Ways to Keep Our Friendship Strong ...

This year's Black Family Wellness Expo was a success in large part to the assistance of the pastor and congregation of St. Stephen's AME Church in Hardeeville, SC.  What better way for the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated to show their appreciation than by attending morning worship with them, presenting them with a plaque, and a small donation.  Thank you Pastor Vanessa Johnson for all of your help and your truly inspiring sermon!

After the service, several chapter sisters got together at a local restaurant for good times and fellowship.

What a wonderful Links in Pink Church Service at the Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Reverent Johnson and the congregation were thankful for our collaboration on this even.  We also donated $500 to the church to support their missionary outreach.

And Serve Our Communities Through Transformational Programming

"Links in Pink"

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated's Health and Human Services facet once again partnered with the Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church's "Pink Out" to show their commitment to the "Links in Pink" program.  The event celebrated breast cancer survivors and encouraged everyone to practice early detection through mammograms and self exams.  It was a rousing success!  There was a great chapter turnout of members, Connecting Links, and Heir-O-Links, who all took part in some aspect of the planning, supporting, helping, and entertaining.  We raised $2,231.00 to send to the American Cancer Society!

We also honored our own chapter sister Janice, who is a cancer survivor.

"Rising Stars" - Umbrella Program

The first session of our Umbrella Program - "Rising Stars"  at Polaris Tech was kicked off for this semester! The Services To Youth facet conducted a workshop on communication through body language. The students took turns acting out an emotion for the other students to identify. All the students actively participated. The session ended by sharing a welcome back cake. Many thanks to the members who participated in person.

"Link Up The Vote" Continues!

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is on a mission to get folks out to vote!  We have gotten behind our National Trends and Services facet to get the message (flyers) out at a Gullah Food festival, a Get Out The Vote Rally, and through providing snacks and drinks for a "Get Souls To The Polls" bus service (in collaboration with local churches and organizations).

Many of us have already voted or plan to early vote ... we don't play!

Keeping with the spirit of National Voter Registration Day, the National Trends and Services facet of the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated spent the day registering young first time voters from the University of South Carolina Beaufort's (USCB) Bluffton Campus in partnership with the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Office of Student Life (OSL).  Thirty-five (35) students were registered and treated to a "Float for a Vote" sponsored by the SGA and OSL.  We thank USCB with partnering with us to "Link Up The Vote!"

We are also collaborating with local churches and organizations to help get the vote out in the upcoming election.

Wills Clinic

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated's National Trends and Services facet once again had a successful Wills Clinic where they partnered with the Center for Heirs Property Preservation located in Charleston, SC and the Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Ridgeland, SC.  Twelve (12) wills were completed.  We, along with the center, "help families protect and keep their family land...build generational wealth and...grow “working” landscapes.

They also took this opportunity to register voters if they were not already registered.
